A Few More Pictures

Home from the hospital

Hello all,

I am filling in briefly for the chief blogger while she tries to get a little bit of rest.

Many may know already, but for the record: Audrey Caroline Lazenby was born at 6:25 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009. She weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz. and was 20 1/2" long. Due to a little gurgling in her throat when she breathed (which would've been really cute if it hadn't been a potential problem), she had to spend a couple of days in the NICU. But, she improved at record pace and yesterday afternoon at about 5:00, she and her mom both got discharged from the hospital!

So, I am going to try and figure out how to post a few pictures and then let Dori take back over. Thanks to all who called, visited, e-mailed, and especially prayed during this time. We have been overwhelmed with the encouragement and support. Thank you all!

Just like a bad habit of Mommy and Daddy, this baby is late! Two days late according to the doctor, but I think today should be the official due date. We have officially scheduled the induction for the 19th. I wanted two more days for this baby to decide to come on its own. Hopefully it will...soon. And now I don't have to worry about green beer.

We went to the doctor yesterday to make sure everything was okay. Of course, it was! The ultrasound measured the baby to be 39 weeks and 6 days which means today should be the due date. Really, the doctors should just listen to me!!! It also predicted that the baby weighs 8 pounds 12 ounces. Yikes! If this baby takes another week to come, it really could weigh 9 lbs. Ouch! Thank goodness the doctors do not believe that the baby is really that big. I am choosing to believe them about this one! They don't expect the baby to weigh more than 8lbs! I also had to be hooked up to the fetal monitor. Chris made me laugh so hard I had a contraction and the baby reacted perfectly. They let me off of it rather quickly. I go back on Monday, if the baby hasn't come by then.

I have added some pictures of the nursery. I love the nursery and think it turned out a lot better than I thought it would along the way. I don't think it is as homemade looking as it is!! Chris hung the chair rail. We painted the stripes. I made the curtains, bed skirt, photo board and zebra painting. Melanie did a painting. Chris' mom painted the toy box. A lot of love went into this room and I think that makes it very special. I will be hanging wooden letters of the baby's name above the crib once it gets here!

We are going to eat more Mexican food tonight! I went for a long walk around the Galleria a couple of times today. I have been drinking herbal tea, eating pineapple and doing just about everything else you can safely do to induce labor. Hopefully the next post will be announcing our new little one!

The first post

So, I broke down and did it. For those of you who have asked me to do this, here it is. Jenn and Sara, this is especially for you. I am sure it will take me a few more days to figure this blogging thing out, but since this baby is taking its sweet time, I should be okay!

Locked up tight were the doctor's words two weeks ago. After my examination this week she said that I had two choices, the 17th or 19th. It looks like we are going to be having a St. Patrick's Day baby! They scheduled us for 6:30 am on the 17th. I am still not sure what I think about the baby being born on St. Patrick's Day. The Fourth of July has always been my favorite holiday because it was 13 days before my birthday. If my child has the same kind of passion with a stronger intensity because his or her birthday is actually on St. Patrick's Day, they will be drinking green beer in middle school to celebrate. I'm not okay with that! Really, I'm not okay with being induced either so please join me in prayer that this baby will come naturally before then!!

On a funny note, while trying to come up with a name for this blog, I had some good suggestions. Melanie suggested "Chris' Chaos" since that is probably about to happen! My favorite, although not chosen, was "A Reason to be Topless." Lazenby Lately just seemed appropriate and good for long term use.

Tomorrow I will tackle posting pictures.
